ASP Tip of the Week: The Bare Minimum of Briefing Cases

Spend ample time reading and briefing cases--simply making notes in the margins of your textbook is not enough!

Make sure you're including all pertinent information in your case briefs. In the least, your briefs should answer the following questions:

  • What happened in this case?
  • What rule of law does the case impart?
  • Why was the case assigned by your professor or included in your textbook?
